8 Months

I can't believe Christopher is 8 months already! He has learned to do SO much in these last two weeks, he has had a crazy "learning spurt" (I guess you could call it that). First, he is crawling! He crawls EVERYWHERE, fowards, backwards, sidewides. I can't leave him for a minute or he'll disappear and get into something. The other day I caught him trying to pull himself up to stand holding onto the couch. He can already stand holding onto something if you stand him up, but now he's trying to get up on his own.
He has four teeth...all on the bottom. He can go from his tummy to a sitting position, play peek-a-boo, turn the pages of a book, and clap. He also tried his first finger foods the other day (little Gerber cereal pieces), so he is getting more thumb and index finger coordination (a fine motor skill). Finally, were teaching him to throw or roll a ball. It's crazy because I feel like he has been so close to crawling for so long and then it just clicked and he hasn't looked back! lol!
I'm curious about how old other's babies are when they started crawling, so please share in the comment section!

  1. Congrats on the little guy crawling. Even though they are mobile at that point, I absolutely loved it because I was so proud that my child did it! Joseph crawled at 7 1/2 months. This child that I babysat didn't crawl until he was 12 months! I think it's so great when your children do things's like, "you are so smart!" lol 8 months is totally amazing for crawling. And the fact that he is pulling up on stuff makes me think that walking will be soon to follow in the next 2 months

  2. thanks! it's amazing how much variation there can be with children hitting milestones. my siblings did everything so early and i think alot of it has to do with the amount of interaction.
it's funny with how proud chris and i get when he does something, we turn into geeky parents in that way. you laugh at parents that are like that, but when you become the parent and it's YOUR child it's so different.
i think he will walk really soon too. he already walks if i hold his two hands and for a long time i thought he would just skip crawling bc he was more interested in walking. we shall see. you son started walking really early right? i think you said 9-10mo?

  3. yeah he was 9 1/2 months so literally it was exactly 2 months later he started walking and we remember it clearly because it was a Sunday after mass (during shark week in July ha!) I mean he just got up and did it. We were like, "what?!"

Sydney has seemed to do things at her own pace. But once she starts she doesn't stop. First it was crawling and I think she was almost 10 months old until she actually crawled. She finally started walking for real about 2 months ago. One day Michael and I turned around and there she was coming right for us. Congrats on baby #2. Kelly just told us yesterday...

  5. thanks! i was just wondering how your little one was doing. how old is she now?
