Color Suggestions

Well, I was overwhelmed by all of the comments in my last post on the color I chose for our nursery and would like some color suggestions for our bedroom. But first, there are some things that need to be laid out. My design style is super TRADITIONAL with some modern accents! I'm not into bright or super dark colors. The accent wall in our family room seen here was the darkest I've ever done. I'm not a risk taker, and stick to design elements that are timeless. Hence, why we live in a brick house, all of the furniture we have purchased is mahogany, and I'm trying to change out all the pictures we have to black. That may be boring or plain to some people, but it works for me. I don't have the money to re-paint or re-decorate every time something is "in."

Also click here to see what our nursery used to look like with the walls painted white, I loved it! I plan on painting new letters for Andrew's name once he moves from our room to the nursery too.

Here is a picture of our bedroom (waiting to hang curtains till it's painted and the hope chest has been moved). What color would you do? Someone suggested sage green or metallic gold. I think if I did the metallic gold I would only do that as an accent wall because it's very opulent. Love blue too, but I plan to do that in our living room. I was thinking a light, silvery gray would be a relaxing yet dramatic color?  Open to doing a dramatic accent wall too. Suggest away!

  1. A silvery gray seems so romantic-LR

  2. The wood tones in the room are really warm, so I think that the cool silver/gray might be strange in contrast. I would actually play up the warmth in your furniture by using a neutral similar to what you used downstairs...a versatile light beige.

  3. anonymous, that's what i was planning originally a neutral beige. do you think using a beige again would be too much in the house/room (especially since it's such a similar color to the bedding)?

  4. No, I don't. I seriously think a home can be done in all neutrals and end up looking cohesive, not dull.

  5. This is one of my favorite decorating blogs. I don't always agree with her style, but most of the time it is lovely and she is crafty and very creative.
