Laundry

Life with Kaishon asked me to do a post on laundry and I liked that idea because it's something all of us can relate to. Most people look forward to Friday as the start of the weekend, but for me Friday's a cleaning/laundry frenzy. I don't work on Fridays so it's my "catch up" day on housework. I actually make it into a little game with myself to see how fast I can finish a weeks worth of laundry, ironing, food shopping, and cleaning. My "reward" is that I can enjoy my weekends housework free :)

Here's the shocker: I like cleaning and laundry!! I really do. Whenever I'm bored or stressed my coping mechanism is to clean, sort, organize. Housework doesn't take much thought, your brain pretty much runs on autopilot. It's a way for me to collect my thoughts and be productive. Sort of like how driving can be. Food shopping however does take thought and is my least favorite chore :(

I do a "big" cleaning every two weeks where I wash sheets, wipe all furniture and woodwork down, wash windows, dust blinds, vacuum and tidy each room. I clean the bathrooms every week (wipe mirrors, clean sink and toilet, mini-vac and steam floor).

Are there any chores you love/hate and why? How do you make housework more bearable (games, breaking up tasks, etc)? Do you have a cleaning schedule?
Airing our dirty laundry ;0
This is a weeks worth...not too bad maybe because this is the equivalent to a days worth for my family

  1. I am the exact same way! I need to be doing something all the time, and most of the time there is some chore to be done. My least favorite is probably anything to do with cleaning the kitchen. I'm also terrible at laundry. I'll walk away from it, because you're not always actively engaged, then forget I was doing it at all! I tend to enjoy organizing and dusting. I can see the results and other people overlook the dusting aspect of cleaning a room (the joy of roommates).

  2. You are not alone! I love to clean! When I am upset or need to feel productive, I clean because I see instant results and I am calmer in a clean house. I don't know what it is, but when the house is clean, everyone just seems little more relaxed and happy. Maybe it's my imagination or maybe it is just me because I no longer have a laundry list of things to do. My least favorite chores are cleaning the bathroom and food shopping.
