Weekend!

Just wanted to share some photos from this weekend. Saturday we went to KOP, but I don't have any pictures from the trip :( I took Andrew to a baby shower on Sunday and tried a new makeup look from www.makeupgeek.com. It's a little hard to see the look from this picture, but check out this tutorial if you want to learn how to do it!
Wish I used a more vibrant black, but it turned out pretty good for my 1st try.
I've since trimmed his hair a little
He was so sleepy! (Here's a better view of the makeup)
He's getting so big!

  1. Your eyes are beautiful! Did you get any new make up like you were looking for?

My new must have piece is the benetint pocket pal. I haven't found it since the move and miss it. Stains are different and do require much moisture through lipbalm, lipstick, or gloss. They also are tricky with color and can easily look too dark, but I LOVE that the color lasts through a meal. My natural lips are just so pale.

  2. yes, i got a few new makeup items. i got the Coastal Scents 78 eyeshadow palette which i love (it was only $18 and has great color pay off)! the NARS blush in orgasm (kinda pricey $26, but by far lived up to all the hype). i want to buy a cheap black liquid liner this week and in the future i would like to get some of MAC's paint pots, MAC's black tides eyeshadow and a good nude lipgloss. i loved Too Faced "Tickle Me," but it was $19 and i didn't have the money.
i've never tried stains. i really haven't experimented with lip color much! i tend to stick with clear gloss or pinks. i don't think i look good in other colors. i love how you can pull off dark reds! i've tried MAC's long-lasting lipsticks and they lasted (a little too long), they also got peeled which i didn't like. maybe i should try a stain!

  3. Would you count make-up as one of your splurge items? MAC is expensive. Based on all of your posts about how you watch your money, I'm surprised you even walk into the store!

  5. anonymous i definitely count makeup at MAC as a splurge. i don't know if you read my earlier post that i haven't gotten new make up in 3yrs?! didn't get the products i used in this look at MAC either. all cheaper knock-offs. i plan on getting some new things from MAC when my birthday rolls around, with gift cards :) plus, makeup last a very long time so i think it's good to invest in quality products when you can. it's something i do for myself very infrequently and it makes me feel/look good! i'd love to know where you shop for makeup and what you like?

  6. MJ, one of the ways that you are really wise is that you invest your money carefully and calculatedly- you save up for a nice piece of furniture that will last 30 years instead of a cheap piece that will die in 3 years, and the way you are with makeup is the same way. Investing in one mac product might be expensive up front, but overtime it can be worth the money because it preforms better and lasts longer.

Many times it is buying the cheap product that is foolish in the end. I have started to go away from mac in some areas because of skin issues and because I am trying to go for more natural ingredients, but one of my good mac examples is that I got an eyelash curler there for 18ish instead of the 5 dollar ones at riteaid. It comes with a refill strip and after 2 years of use I am just putting on the refill strip. I expect to get 4 years of use out of it when the other kinds barely did the job and lasted 6 months max.

  7. i splurge on clothing more than makeup. I'm not very brand loyal or creative when it comes to makeup, so I just buy it when I need it. Usually from Sephora, sometimes from the drugstore. Depends on what I need and how badly I need it. Keep the posts coming, Andrew and Christopher are precious!
