No Buttered Popcorn, Please!

I try really hard not to be that annoying, cranky, nagging pregnant woman. You all know the kind: constantly complaining, wanting special treatment in public places, crazy cravings, etc. I avoid them at all costs. So, it was really hard for me to tell Chris that I couldn't physically stand the smell of his buttered popcorn that he makes most nights for a snack. Literally, one whiff of it sends me running to the bathroom to throw up. I would be lying if I said the only reason I banned it was because it makes me sick (shhh...don't tell him). It sprays greasy butter all over the microwave which I end up cleaning.

I went shopping over the weekend and brought some white cheddar popcorn (for me) and forgot about it. Chris saw the bag and said "Thanks so much for the popcorn!" I thought he meant buttered popcorn and freaked, "I told you NO buttered popcorn!" He said, "I know, that's why I'm glad you got me the other kind." Oh yeah, of course that's who I got it for......:0

  1. What are your go to foods when sick?

  2. Haha so funny! well at least it turned out that you looked like you were being nice and compromising since he eats it most nights for a snack. When I was working a few weeks ago someone would make popcorn and always burn it, that smells so bad!!

  3. So funny that the buttered popcorn sets you off like that. LoL I'm guessing no impromptu date nights to the movies for you two! That movie popcorn has a strong scent.

On a side note: I know what you mean about the women who constantly complain. I've never been pregnant (so maybe I shouldn't talk), but it's not a disease. It is a special time though and I think (if/when) I'm pregnant I won't refuse kind gestures. Like if someone offers me their seat and my feet are swollen, I'll take them up on it, unless of course they are 90 and frail, LoL.

  4. You know the smell bothers me even when I'm not pregnant too. Haha!

Ania- Totally agree, pregnancy isn't a handicap and I hate when women expect to be treated like it is. It's fine to accept little gestures, but annoying to expect/demand them.

LR- Really plain foods like Rice Krispies, potato chips or bananas. It's hard to say because usually when I'm sick I just don't eat.

  5. lol. I hate buttered popcorn even when I'm not pregnant. What's weird is that I love those buttered popcorn Jelly Belly jellybeans. So much tastier than the real thing.
