Our neighborhood recently started using a site called Nextdoor. Not going to lie, but I voted against it. I didn't want to subscribe to another social networking site. However, since I'm on a few committees in our neighborhood and want to be involved; when they listed ours I joined.

I've been pleasantly surprised. Neighbors have listed reviews for local stores, restaurants, schools, vets, etc. Neighbors have listed their personal businesses. I ended up purchasing a hat and working with a lady in our neighborhood that crochets. A neighbor who does contracting fixed a broken door for us and gave us an estimate for installing cabinets in our laundry room. I listed a Thirty-One party I'm hosting for the ladies. Another lady was out of town and her cat got out. She put up an alert and the whole community searched (the cat was found). Anyway, lots of good stuff without having to share as much personal info as Facebook (really you just list your name and address). It's private as well.

  1. I've never heard of this site, but it sounds neat. I will look into it now that I know you've had a positive experience with it.

  2. I kind of love this idea. Not that I need yet another social media site, but I like knowing my neighbors and supporting my local businesses.

  3. ANOTHER social networking site?? I just can't keep up! I neglect my kids as it is, what with Facebook, twitter, blogger, instagram, pinterest, etc etc etc. Do I really have to check it out? Ok, maybe I will. I'm a sucker for these kind of things :)
