Western Caribbean Cruise [Haiti]

Our first stop was Haiti. It was beautiful, but extremely poor. They get little tourism and are isolated. It was almost dangerous to venture out on your own here. Royal Caribbean owns a beach here which is where we stayed for the day and had a BBQ lunch.
Our ship docked at Haiti
The beaches look just like the ones in magazines
One of my goals for the trip was to learn how to shoot in manual mode better. Nearly all of my photos on the trip were taken manually and I'm so glad! When shooting in very bright conditions like the tropics, images get washed out and lose detail.
I got such a cute bikini from Target, but no pics in it :(
Lunch
They're famous for rum
Ship anchor
There were so many shots from this island, so it was hard to be selective. I found that I LOVED travel photography. There's no pressure to get the shot and so much beauty and culture to be captured :)

  1. Beautiful photos! You are doing great in manual mode! I find it much easier to do manual outside. I have issues with lighting inside...my photos look yellow...
I love traveling to the islands and I've been to some very poor countries, but I have rarely felt scared to venture away from the beaches. I'm sorry to hear that. I've only experienced a sense of pure joy in the little things...like playing soccer by moon light.

  3. Stunning photos! Makes me think of our honeymoon in Anguilla where the beaches were so beautiful it almost seemed unreal. Can't wait to see more of the trip! That cruise line should pay you to use some photos for advertising...

I started shooting in manual when I got the 7D because the camera is designed to make it so easy to constantly change your settings. I love the control I have over my photos now!
