Updated Family Room!

We spent last week selling, donating and purging our old family room furniture. It was in awful condition. We  had a denim couch from Chris' college years. It was used and beat before he even got it. It was so bad, that we couldn't even get anyone to take it for FREE! Luckily our trash collection took it without a fee.
The pillows were free (not the biggest fan, but they will do for now). A new couch wasn't in our budget till the New Year, but we thought to go to some furniture stores just to "look." This is what happens when you look...
We'll have it for the holidays I guess? At least that's the excuse I'm going with. The kids toys are to the right of the chaise blocked by a small wall that separates our kitchen and family room. We simplified and I love how it looks for now.  Eventually we would like to get a coffee table, fake tree for the corner of the room, these curtains, and maybe a small end table.

  2. We have a very similar couch that we bought when I moved in with Jason. His roommate was taking their couch and mine was such a pain I let my old roommate but it from me. Microfiber is a blessing and a curse. However, we love our couch (as does everyone who has ever visited or lived with us). :)

    1. Nice! Yeah, we got a cleaning/protection plan for 5 years. Unlimited cleaning and repair for anything (and I checked everything from rips to kids spilling milk) which will come in handy I'm sure ;)

  3. I love the look and those curtains are great! If you are handy, craigslist and thirft stores have some great items that you can refinish. Good job!

  4. Looks good, really like the color. It's hard to pace yourself. I want end tables and lamps and possibly another chair for the awkward empty corner in our living room, but with baby's room to do I settled for just putting blinds in to replace the temporary paper ones we have hanging :/

One thing at a time, right?

  5. Your house always looks immaculate! I don't know how you keep it so spotless with three kids. I only have one and my house often looks like a tornado went through. Love the couch though, great for entertaining!

  7. Furniture from college years should definitely stay in the past. A denim couch sounds horribly hard on the eyes. Love your updated living room!
