Maybelline BB Cream

I'm such a nerd. I seriously spend too much time writing reviews. The other night Chris asks what I'm doing and I replied writing reviews for items I purchased on Amazon. I then laughed and said, "I bet no one reads them." Chris responds, "Oh, so that's why I keep getting these emails thanking me for my helpful review!" We share our Amazon account.

So, tried this BB cream because everyone raved about it. I hate that heavy greasy feel of foundation. I have a foundation I love, but wanted to try something lighter for the summer. My verdict: not good. It is basically watery foundation. Nothing special, I literally think they added water to a regular foundation. It goes on heavy and feels heavy and greases up fast.

It was cheap and does have SPF, but for the heaviness it didn't give enough coverage. In fact, I would have been okay with less coverage if it applied lightly. Anyone else love or hate it? What's your go-to for light, beach day type foundation?

  1. have you tried the l'oreal magic bb cream? I didn't like the maybelline one either, but this one is matifying and works great. "fair" matches my pale skin really well. just wear a spf moisturizer underneath for sun protection :)

  2. I second the loreal one. I haven't tried the maybeline one but I like the loreal version.

  3. I use L'oreal, although right now I'm using my sunless tanner with SPF for the summer. I also tried Garnier before they came out with the oil-free and it was way too heavy, in my opinion.

  4. Amazon reviews are so helpful to read! I have become so dependent on them to make purchases these days. I also hate that heavy foundation feeling. My perfect foundation is discontinued :( So while on the hunt for a replacement I remember trying on one that literally felt like I had a mask on my face.

  5. I too love Amazon reviews and I definitely scroll through them before making a purchase. Thanks for writing away!
I wear a lotion with SPF and when I use foundation (very rarely), I only use it under my eyes. I have tried Maybelline before and I was never impressed. It is heavy and blotchy. I can see the different tones when I wear it and I absolutely hate that.

I have been wearing Arbonne makeup because it used far less chemicals and my skin has been amazing! It's a little pricey, but you don't have to use a lot, it lasts a long time and it feels extremely light!

  6. I too appreciate that you're taking time to write reviews. I ALWAYS read several reviews before purchasing on Amazon, both the good and the bad because I want to know what to expect.

As for me, my skin tends to react to different brands of foundation (I actually broke out in a rash on my face after using a Mary Kay foundation as well as a Clinique foundation) but I finally found that Cover Girl's "Clean" foundation goes on smoothly and gives good coverage without feeling too heavy or greasy and my skin loves it too. I put on Oil of Olay face lotion with SPF 15 every day before I put on my foundation as the foundation doesn't have SPF (or at least my current bottle doesn't).
